According to ARS Technica, Microsoft has officially launched its bid on tablet market with the Surface.

After more than 30 years of software innovation marketing, the multinational company which inspired almost everything in the tech world has now changed its heart to unravel potentials on tablet market. Microsoft is now changing its status as a software maker; it is now going to hardware and gadget creation.

As Windows and Windows Live Division President, Steven Sinofsky, said Microsoft has its own direction for the tablet. While Amazon's Kindle Fire is for purchases of its products and Apple's iPad is for familiarity, Microsoft Surface takes on another step in forging strength in the market of data.

The direction and fate of Microsoft on tablet market is still to be decided as how Microsoft Surface fair. In fact, Microsoft has not provided a good detail and prediction of sales volume, but most analysts, it is lower in millions compared to Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus.

Compared to other tablets, Microsoft Surface is squarer and more angular. Surface is slim at 0.37 inches, and lighter at 1.5 lb. Its Gorilla-Glass covered IPS screen is 10.6-inch, 16:9 ratio, with 1366 x 768 resolution. A 720p camera sits above the screen of Microsoft Surface.

Microsoft Surface comes in Dark Titanium, the product of Microsoft VaporMg vapor deposition technique. According to Sinofsky, Surface's body is hard to scratch, easy to grip, and comfortable to hold.

Microsoft Surface is expected to hit the market with the price range between $499 to $699.
