According to BBC News, Microsoft posted a profit fall of about 22%. The revenue of the company has been deferred prior to the launch of Windows 8 and its latest Office version.

For the quarter, Microsoft earned $4.47 billion compared to the profit earlier this year -$5.74 billion. The total revenue drop of the company is $16 billion or 8%.

PC sales have been sagging due to the pressure of the economy and more customers prefer to buy tablets that PC.

For last quarter, Microsoft deferred $1.36 billion in revenue. Microsoft expects to regain the deferred revenue this quarter.

The deferred revenue included $738 million in PC's license fees; however, Microsoft cannot recognize the revenue until October 26 when all units are sold.

In the stock market, Microsoft's shares drop by 3% in extended rating.
