According to ABC News, the re-elected President Barack Obama will make a landmark visit to Burma within the month. The visit will be the first among sitting US presidents.
A year ago, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Burma for peace and political reforms. The visit of President Obama will reinforce the defined foreign policies of the United States government.
Earlier this year, the United States had eased the sanctions on Burma after seeing economic and political reforms.
Obama is expected to talk with Burma President Thein Sein. In the same manner, Nobel laureate Aung Sang Su Kyi will also meet the president.
The visit of President Obama is a milestone to promote Burma among international communities that are still hesitant of the reform created by Thein Sein's government.
"The president appreciates all of these messages and looks forward to continuing to work with all of his fellow leaders to address the serious challenges we face together in the world."
Within the country, the President faces a divided Congress with Democrats controlling the Senate but the House still under the Republican rule.
