Craig reminisced how he and Sam Mendes, the director of Skyfall, bumped into each other in a party after Craig appeared in the Broadway performance, opposite to Hugh Jackman, and he (Craig) asked Mendes to direct the new installment of James Bond - that's Skyfall.
Mendes and Craig had worked before when Craig appeared as a son of Paul Newman in the film Road to Perdition last 2002. After 12 years of running the Donmar Warehouse Theater in London, Mendes debuted with his movie American Beauty, with Kevin Spacey, and ultimately winning an Oscar for the same movie. He had made other movies including the emotion-packed Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet.
"I thought, he has the potential to do something completely different," said Craig on Mendes direction of Skyfall."Come and try this, this is quite interesting."
"It was just a moment. Ordinarily in those situations when you blurt something out after a few drinks you immediately want to put it back in the box, and I didn't. It just felt right."
Skyfall is Craig's third James Bond movie. He starred in Casino Royale last 2006 and Quantum of Solace last 2008.
Craig said he had a great time in shooting fight scenes and other challenges with the direction of Sam Mendes. The cinematography of Skyfall is, so far, the best of all James Bond installments, said Craig.
Watch out for the release of Skyfall this November.
