According to The HDR Room, the North American box office was topped by Paranormal Activity 4 besting other big-budget films. Comparative to its predecessor last 2011, Paranormal Activity 4 still loomed lower in figure.

For the past weeks, the box office had seen a fight between frontrunners, including Argo, Taken 2, and Hotel Transylvania.

To be recalled, Paranormal Activity 3 debuted with a whooping and box office record of $52 million in just three days. The latest Paranormal Activity grabbed $30 million in the same period, still 43 percent lower than its predecessor.

However, it must be noted that the film just spent $5 million for production compared to its counterpart. Paramount still intends to bring up the next installment to the series: Paranormal Activity 5.

Ben Affleck's historical-action movie Argo $16.5 million last week to complete a ten-day earning of $43.2 million. Argo is expected to hit $100 million in its total run.

Hotel Transylvania earned a 22 percent share of the market for $11.8 million to accumulate a total of $119 million in just four weeks. The halloween comedy animated movie is starred by Adam Sandler.

Working in the same speed and strength in the market, Taken 2 already earned $106 million to date. Last week, the film earned 13.4 million or 39 percent of the total industry sales. Last year, the original Taken earned a combined $145 million nationwide.

At the top five, Alex Cross earned $11.78 million. CinemaScore rated the movie "A" and they are expected to earn more before heading to home screen.
